What types of files can I hyperlink to in my lesson?

With SoftChalk, you can create a hyperlink to almost any type of file. Please note that some file types are "web ready" while others are not. "Web ready" refers to file types that most web browsers can display without the user needing any additional software. Examples of "web ready" file types include: jpg, gif, and png graphics files; other html files; and Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files.

For using PowerPoint files, see the FAQ Do you have a guide explaining how to put my PowerPoint content into a SoftChalk lesson?

Flash files require the free Flash player, but most people (particularly students) have that player installed in their browser.

If you create a hyperlink to a file that is not "web ready", the link will still work. But your students may need additional software to view the file on the web. For example, you might create a link to a file that was created by a 3-D graphics program. When the student clicks on your link, he/she will be prompted to save the linked file to the student's local computer. To open the file, the student will need either the graphics program itself or a viewer for the program.
