Are there limits on the size of a media (audio or video) file that I can put into my lesson?

SoftChalk does not impose any limits on the size of the embedded or linked media files within your lesson. However, if you embed or link to large files, your students may have difficulty accessing your lesson page. Or they may have to wait a long time to download the lesson page or related links.

The length of time to access a large media file depends on many factors including:

  • the network speed of the student accessing your content
  • how busy the server is where your content is housed
  • what types of media files you are using (some files are better able to stream the content, which can improve download time)

We suggest you contact your school's technical support personnel for advice on using large media files. They will be familiar with your school's network, servers, and student technology access and can help you make a good decision about what types and amounts of media to include in a lesson.
