When I click on a lesson link for my SCORM file in my learning management system (Angel and Desire2Learn - D2L), I get an error message "Import Failed_ Error opening the manifest file." What should I do?

For some learning management systems, you will get this error if you have an ampersand & in one of our files for your lesson.
To correct this issue:

  1. Open up your lesson folder from your computer desktop and view the files.
  2. Rename the file with the &.
  3. If you have linked to this file within SoftChalk, you will need to re-open your lesson in SoftChalk Create and re-link or re-insert the file you just re-named.
  4. Save your lesson as a SCORM package again (see below for instructions).
  5. In your learning management system, delete your previous SCORM file (or folder containing the SCORM files).
  6. Upload your new SCORM file.
