I use LTI links in my LMS. Some students report an 'Invalid State' error message. What could case this error?

This error message has been reported to SoftChalk Support. In troubleshooting the Invalid State error message, we’ve found there could be a few causes for the error:

  • iPad and iPhone running older iOS. We would recommend updating the iOS to the most current version.

  • There may be an issue with content entered into the ‘state’ field within the LMS profile. We would suggest that you clear or correct the ‘state’ field in your LMS profile to see if that resolves the issue

  • The error can occur when the browser has blocked SoftChalk Cloud cookies. Grade tracking for SoftChalk authored lessons will require your browser to allow cookies from https://softchalkcloud.com.

The web browser needs to allow cookies from https://softchalkcloud.com site. Allowing the SoftChalk Cloud site on the browser using the below steps should resolve the error message from appearing. You will see https://softchalkcloud.com listed under Allow in the browser settings.

In Safari, disable both “Block All Cookies” and “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” as these options will also block cookies coming from SoftChalk Cloud for ScoreCenter connected lessons which are accessed from within the LMS.
