I am an instructor. How can I test my LTI linked SoftChalk Cloud content as a student to confirm the grade will pass to the Buzz grade book?
If you are testing out your own graded LTI linked lessons in an LMS to confirm the grade book connectivity, there are a couple of things to be aware of as the Cloud account owner/course instructor:
If you are logged into SoftChalk Cloud you will not be able to establish a connection to ScoreCenter. The two sessions interfere with one another. In order to produce a valid test, you need to ensure that you have logged out of your Cloud account or use an incognito web browser.
Using the SoftChalk Link Selector will automatically log you into your Cloud account.
If you are logged in as an Instructor in the course, you will not launch the 'Student' view of the LTI lesson, and it will not connect to ScoreCenter in such a way that it will pass any grades. Be sure to use log in as a test student enrolled into the course or impersonate a student user enrolled into the course.
If you are logged into the LMS admin account and attempt to access an LTI link, it will likely fail. LTI is only intended to work with users assigned 'Instructor/Faculty' or 'Student' roles in an LMS. Oftentimes an admin is also enrolled into the course as admin, but it is best to test things with a instructor account if possible.
