I am an instructor. Sometimes student grades don't appear in the ScoreCenter. This issue seems to be sporadic. What should I do?

When a student accesses a ScoreCenter tracked lesson, the attempt is 'started' and the student will receive the below message.

An attempt is not considered 'Complete' until the student clicks the Finish button at the bottom of the last page of the lesson. Clicking the last Finish button will 'Complete' the student attempt and will push the score to the LMS grade book.

As long as a student connects to ScoreCenter and they click the appropriate 'Check Answers/Finish' button and/or completes an activity, the student attempt details will be captured in ScoreCenter. 

  1. Log into your LMS account and choose your course.

  2. Click on name of your lesson.

  3. The SoftChalk ScoreCenter screen appears. Click on a specific learner’s name to display a drop-down menu of the student’s attempts.

Completed Attempt

The student has successfully completed the lesson by clicking on the Finish button located on the last page of the lesson or the instructor has manually completed the attempt using the ScoreCenter Actions menu.

Incomplete Attempt
The student has opened the assignment and connected to ScoreCenter but has not clicked on the Finish button located on the last page of the lesson.
Instructors can manually complete the attempt using the ScoreCenter Actions menu. Please see the Complete All Attempts for All Students for a Lesson section for additional information.

 

Changed Score

The instructor has manually changed the score for the attempt.

Cleared Attempt

The instructor has manually cleared the attempt. This attempt is not reflected in the grade book or calculated as part of the Average Score.

As the instructor, you have the option to complete all attempts for all Learners for a lesson. You may find that your Learners have neglected to complete their attempts (i.e., they have neglected to click Finish on the last page of the lesson – clicking Finish sends a completion status to the grade book).

You may want to do this procedure after the availability of your lesson has expired.

This procedure cannot be undone. (You can also complete/change individual scores or re-open individual attempts, if needed.) Please see the LMS Guide for additional details.

  1. Log into your LMS account and choose your course.

  2. Navigate to your content and click on the name of your SoftChalk assignment.

  3. Use the ScoreCenter Actions drop-down menu to select Complete All Attempts.

4. Confirm the process by clicking Complete All Attempts in the popup window.

5. Then click Close to close the popup window.

All ‘Incomplete’ attempts should now appear as ‘Completed’ attempts and the score should appear in the LMS grade book.
