Connections Activity

With the Connections Activity, provide a ‘prompt’ for learners to identify an item(s) from an unlimited group of items. Learners will click to select items that are ‘connected’ or related to the ‘prompt.’ See an online example.

Things to know

Activity title:

Up to 35 characters look best (50 max)

Activity instruction:

Up to 50 characters look best (500 max)

Activity prompt:

100 characters or less look best (unlimited)

Number of activity cards:

Up to 10 cards look best (unlimited)

A vertical scrollbar appears after 10 cards.

Activity image best practice:

Portrait:

  • 107pixels-horizontal x 156 pixels-vertical no label 
    65 pixels-horizontal x 85 pixels-vertical with up to 12 characters
    Resize image to 80% horizontal x 50% vertical to allow up to 24 characters

Landscape:

  • 134 x 107 with/without label

Tips

  1. Portrait images with no or limited text work best.

  2. Use wide images with text and use tall images for only image cards.

  3. Images at 800 pixel height and 600 pixel width work best.

  4. A wide image will allow more text space below the image for short, well formatted text to fit in the card

Create a Connections Activity

Build the Activity

  1. Enter an activity prompt.
    This prompts the student to click on a specific area of the image.

  2. Click the ‘Add Item’ + icon to create a card.

  3. Add and format text in the middle card and/or
    Add an image using Select File.

  4. If the card is the correct answer, click the box under ‘Correct Answer’ at the right.

  5. Return to the activity editor clicking the Back button.

  6. Repeat these steps to create all correct or incorrect card(s).

  7. Select options: Partial Credit, Show Answers, Feedback Sounds, or add points for a scored activity.

  8. When finished, click OK.
    The Connections Activity placeholder will appear in the lesson.

  9. Preview the lesson changes.

Partial Credit (on)

When partial credit is enabled, learners will receive points for correct selections.

Then points are detracted for any incorrect selection.

Partial Credit (off)

When partial credit is disabled, the leaner must make all correct selections to receive points for the activity.

For example

If one selection is incorrect, the learner will receive zero points.
