How do I use My Files to put an item in SoftChalk Cloud and reference that item in other lessons?


You will need a SoftChalk Cloud account to use the feature below. (You can easily sign up for a 14-day trial account for testing.)


Steps to Reference an Item:


  1. Log into your SoftChalk Cloud account.
  2. Start a new lesson by going to My Content/Create Content.
  3. Choose Insert/Media. Click Select File and then select a file and click Select. Click OK.
  4. Right-click on the file you just inserted. Choose Save to SoftChalk Cloud.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Choose File/New to start a new lesson.
  7. Choose Insert/SoftChalk Cloud Item. Click Insert. Accept the default setting Save space, Reference image on Cloud. Click OK.
  8. For best results, insert as a Linked file.


Steps to Replace an Item in My Files


You may want to update your original file. Please follow the steps below for replacing your file in the My Files area of SoftChalk Cloud. Once you replace the item with an updated item, the reference to the items in your lessons will be updated as well.


  1. Update your original file (e.g. your image, audio or video) on your local computer.
  2. Log into your SoftChalk Cloud account.
  3. Start a new lesson by going to My Content/Create Content.
  4. Choose Insert/Media. Click Select File and then select the file that you updated click Select. Click OK.
  5. Right-click on the file you just inserted. Choose Save to SoftChalk Cloud.
  6. At the right, select the file that you want to replace. (You should use the same names throughout this process. For instance, when you insert the file - see step 4 above), make sure it has the same name as the original file.
  7. Click Save.
