Within my learning management system - Blackboard, Desire2Learn (D2L) or Moodle, I am getting an u'\u201c' error when I try to access my LTI link for my SoftChalk Cloud lesson. What should I do?

We have discovered that Blackboard, Desire2Learn and Moodle have the following issue with the Description field for the LTI link. (In Moodle this field is called Activity Description and is found under the Show Advanced button.)

If you have copied and pasted smart quotation marks, then the u'\u201c' appears when you click on the LTI link. (Ex. "reset") Notice that smart quotation marks appear slanted. (If you typed in the quotation marks in Word, they will be smart quotation marks.)

If you type quotation marks directly within these description fields, the quotation marks are not smart quotation marks. Ex. "reset"

If you want to copy and paste from Word, simply highlight each smart quotation mark and re-type it so it is no longer a smart quotation mark.
