I created content in my SoftChalk Cloud account. Who owns the content I create? If I move to another university later, can I export the content created by me?
The exact policy regarding ownership of the content produced using SoftChalk’s creation tools is dependent on the license which you used to create or activate your SoftChalk Cloud account.
If you have created an account using an institution’s group license, they are ultimately the ones who would have final say with regards to ownership of the content created.
SoftChalk’s policy is to attribute ‘ownership' of created content to the original lesson author. This is why you will see the ‘owner’ account listed for all pieces of created content. However, as organization and university policies differ, you should reach out internally to find out if there is a specific ownership policy that your university has in place.
With SoftChalk, you can download and archive any of your own lessons as local files, which you can use going forward if you were to leave and resume working with SoftChalk at another university. Please see the FAQ How can I download a backup of my SoftChalk content?
