How do I use the Files feature in SoftChalk Cloud and reference Files in other lessons?

There are many advantages of saving your content within your SoftChalk Cloud account:

  • You have an automatic backup.

  • Your content is available within the Cloud, so you can log into your account and work on it anywhere.

  • You can easily collaborate with other SoftChalk Cloud accounts owners and share Files.

  • You can update your File in one place but post a link to your File in many places.

You can upload files directly from within your SoftChalk Cloud account. You can upload individual files, or you can upload complex files (i.e., a .zip package of files) that you created in a program like Camtasia or Articulate.

Once you upload a file or .zip package, you can reference this file or .zip package in a lesson or multiple lessons.

You can upload images, video, audio, .PDF,

  1. In SoftChalk Cloud, navigate to My Content > Files.

2. Under the Actions menu, click on Upload Files.

3. Choose the Cloud Folder where you want to place the file.

NOTE: If you are uploading multiple files, choose which folder the file should upload to using the drop-down menu for each file.

4. Click on Browse to locate or Drag & Drop your file.

5. Once the upload progress bar stops loading, you will see each file uploaded along with the folder title and image title.

 

6. Click the Upload button.

7. Click OK in the successfully uploaded message.

8. The page will refresh and return to the

My Content > Files area.

You’ll see each file uploaded into the correct folders.

You will need to use the appropriate Create Online toolbar menu to reference a SoftChalk Cloud saved File within a lesson.

  • To reference an Image, use the Image menu to select the Cloud File

  • To reference Video/Audio media, use the Media menu to select the Cloud File

  • To reference other document and complex Files, use the iFrame menu to select the Cloud File

You can also reference SoftChalk Cloud saved Image Files in most activities.

The below example references an image file already uploaded into a SoftChalk Cloud account.

  1. In the Create Online editor, click on the Image icon in the toolbar.

2. Choose the Cloud File Link Source and click Select File.

 

3. Click to select the image.

4. Click OK.

5. Add Alternative Text for the image. (required)

This text is read by a screen reader.

6. Add a Caption to the image. (optional)

7. Choose an Alignment (optional) and click OK.

This feature determines how the text wraps around the image.

Align Left: Text will wrap around the right side of the image.

Align Right: Text will wrap around the left side of the image.

Bottom: Text will begin at the bottom-left corner of the image.

Middle: One line of text will appear in the middle of the left side of the image. All other text will appear below the image.

Top: One line of text will appear at the top-left side of the image. All other text will appear below the image.

<not set>: Text will appear below the image.

 

8. Click OK
