I am an Instructor. I need to update the point value of my SoftChalk lesson. Some students have already accessed the lesson. What are my options?

By overwriting the SoftChalk Cloud lesson and/or adjusting the answer selection/value, the new lesson will be available to students immediately for new attempts wherever the content has been linked from in an LMS course.

However, students would need to make a new, 2nd attempt on the lesson in order to see the new, corrected answer selections/values. The already existing student attempts would still be recorded against the ‘previous revision’ of the lesson and the attempt details would still reflect the old, incorrect answer selections.

In order to apply credit for student attempts impacted by this, your options would be:

  • Update the student scores individually through ScoreCenter or through the LMS grade book
Please see the View or Change Scores section in your LMS user guide.

  • Update the lesson and ask students to re-take the material following the correction

To quickly identify scores made against the previous revision of the lesson, the assignment ScoreCenter in the LMS will display an asterisk next to scores made on a previous revision of the lesson.

Regrettably, there is not an easier method to correct student answer selections once they have already made attempts against a piece of graded content. Lesson updates and revisions made in the Cloud cannot adjust scores for completed student attempts without opening up the possibility for prior grade book data to be invalidated if an author adjusts the content and scoring of a Cloud hosted lesson at a later date.
